- I am planning on upgrading the RAM in my A3000 soon, however before I do
- I have some questions, given that my configuration is a little on the odd
- side...
-
- I currently have 6 MB of RAM in my A3000 (not T), 2 MB of chip RAM and 4
- MB of fast. My fast RAM all comes from 1x4Mb DIPs (yes, DIPs) that fill
- up my DIP fast RAM bank. This is not documented as being an option, but
- it does in fact work just fine, except for the fact that I have to add
- the NOCACHE option to SetPatch (although I can then do CPU CACHE and
- things are OK, in fact I put that command right after SetPatch in my
- Startup-Sequence). I have always wondered why this may be, but no one
- has been able to give me a good answer yet.
-
- Anyways, that's sort of an side from my real questions.
- - First of all, will 1x4Mb ZIPs work with these 1x4Mb DIPs?
- - Secondly, is it not true that all the RAM chips must be of the same
- type (static column, page mode, whatever)?
- - Thirdly, I have no idea what type the RAM is that I have now, how can
- I find out?
-
- If anyone could answer my questions, I would very much appreciate. As
- you can surely understand, I am very eager to upgrade, 6 MB just isn't
- much these days.
